This course provides a condensed overview of the 5G Network Slicing feature as defined in the current R17 3GPP standards. It presents the benefits the feature brings into the operational and business side of the NOP (Network Operators). The course presents the technological aspects of the 5G System (mainly the core network) that enable Network Slicing.

Upon completion of this learning program, you will be able to:

• Describe the main benefits of the Network Slicing feature
• List and describe the roles of the main slice-specific 5G Core Network Network Functions: Network Slice Selection Function (NSSF), Network Slice Specific Authentication and Authorization Function (NSSAAF), Network Slice Access Control Function (NSACF) and Network Slice Management Function (NSMF)
• Describe the standardized 5G Use Cases: enhanced Mobile Broadband (emBB), Massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC) and Ultra-Reliable and Low-Latency Communication (URLLC), Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), High Performance Machine Type Communication (HMTC)
